Hat Blocks Direct was founded by James Cox in 2007. Having already worked in manufacturing hat blocks for 5 years, James also served a 5 year Pattern Making apprenticeship under his father Paul. During this time he gained qualifications and perfected his wood working skills.

Since beginning the company in 2007 James made hat blocks for customers all over the world and established the name Hat Blocks Direct throughout the Millinery community.

James has since established other businesses which he is now committed to, leaving Hat Blocks Direct in the capable hands of his Father, Paul. Since 2016 Paul along with Christine his wife have completely taken over Hat Blocks Direct.

PaulPaul, a Patternmaker of 40 years, served his apprenticeship at Dudley Foundry, a well known and respected Pattern shop which offered excellent training. After 10 years he became a fully qualified Patternmaker and went on to gain experience working at a number of companies before deciding to set up his own business ‘Integrity Craftsmanship’.
Here he built a reputation for been one of the finest Patternmakers in the area. It was at this time he became involved in manufacturing hat blocks.

Paul is assisted by his wife Christine who manages the administration and Deborah his Sister-in-law who deals with the Accounts. Christine has several years experience making bespoke hats for clients, including Dave Hill of Slade, and has exhibited hats at the annual hat festival Chapeau Caussade in France.
